Does anyone have an alternate source for the rear window struts? Is there something that can be modified to work? The truck I just bought has the standard style canopy on it. It is in very good condition, it just needs the struts.
Thanks

OK, so I looked on BroncoGraveyard, and found the supports from early Bronco's. The part # is 14645. These look different from the ones on my canopy, but I wonder if mine have been changed some time in the past? Should the lifts for the canopy be round or rectangular?
Thanks

Mine are flat square and there is a parts breakdown somewhere on this site, of the origional canopys. It also shows the flat square ones. I am sure that somewhere along the line of time they could have been replaced with some round nitrogin ones but I wanted mine to be as origional as possible. The ones that I got from Broncograveyard matched mine perfictly.

So, I received the struts yesterday, now I have another question. When I open & close them, they will not lock open most of the time. I tried spraying lithium grease in the mechanism, but they are still unreliable. Is there something I am missing here? Or is the quality of these just bad? I will be contacting the suipplier shortly to ask these same questions, but wanted to see if anyone here had any experience with them.
Thanks

Operation of Lifting Struts
Mine work great but you have to remember that these are old school. When you open the rear door you lift it up and then set it down on the strut stops. It then should stay open. When you go to close the rear door, you lift it up to disingage the strut stop and lower the door to the close position. The rear door is heavy so don't drop it as this is what causes the door to break, usuallyin the latch area. This is the weakest part of the rear door and it is really hard to repair umless you bolt a iron bar across the bottom of the inside of the door. I don't care for this as I want mine to be as origional as possible.
I am looking for the side window latches, if anyone knows of any. They are kind of a complicated affair made out of black plastic. It has a cam lock on the inside that you have to twist to unloce the rear window and slide it forward.
