Weld vertical up with your 110 welder and you'll get enough penetration. I've welded half inch plate in a T joint welding uphill with a 110 machine.
Thats just plain bad advice to give someone who is going to weld suspension pieces. I don't care how pretty you may have made it look, you didn't get enough penetration to have a safe weld. Bet you didn't have to pass a Xray on that one.

I know more people with bronco's and hummer tires than just you Paul. It's a guy I hunt with. What you looking to get for those rims? I'll save my hurricane rims and 36" swampers for summer riding and can run hummer tires in the winter to hunt with.
200 for 5 and one comes with a hummer tire

hey kjett how many miles did you get out of those hawgs and the IROKs....those are the two i am comparing now...and the other thing is radial vs. bis ply...i know the radials will last longer but they are also way more $...i dont know ha if i can get a good deal through peterbilt which i should i think i want the ground hawg radials and have them studded for the winter roads...through the winter it will see a fair amount of highway, well more like iceway around here, (50/50 probably due to hunting) and it will see more offroad in the summer, i have 2wd trucks to commute then LOL

I had the by-ply hawgs. I got about 30k miles out of them, but I was using them mostly on the road, and did many, many smoke burn outs with them.
The IROKS, I put over 40k on them and they were at the wear bars. I know these are high numbers considering the type of tire, but to their defense, I am pretty religious about checking tire pressure and rotating/balancing.

No Xray but we beat the hell out of it in a vise with a BFH. When I was in tech shool for welding, a kid bet me if I did it he could break one of the plates clean off with a hammer. We both beat on it till it bent over enough that the weld cracked down the middle. I preheated it quite a bit, ran a root pass then about a 3/8's cover vertical up. I wouldnt recommend welding anything that thick ever with a 110 welder but a thin frame and a 1/4 piece of steel you'll be just fine with some skill and technique welding that with a 110.

well those are good numbers for the intecos, i might go that route casue they will be better offroad and probably about $100 cheaper per tire than the radials according to jegs...were the IROKs bias ply or radials? again as per jegs the IROK radial is cheaper than the hawg radial but the bias plys are the same price...i am seriously considering the bias ply hawg, my truck will see at MOST 20000 miles of highway per year, if the hawgs last a year i will be happy with them...i will call around and find some local prices tonight...thanks

I've put like 4k miles on my F-350 in almost four years. Haha.
My daily driver on the other hand has like 6k miles in the past few months. :P
Its all about gas mileage really.
i get roughly 1500 miles/month on my DD 2wd, which makes out to about 18000/year...the 4x4 could see double that lol

my DD gets 19-20mpg my 4x4 on the other hand...not so much bout 12 with that...with 31x10.50, cat wait to see what i get with 4" lift and 36x13.50 hawgs LOL
on that subject i think i have decided on the hawg, best price i can find locally is $376/tire but i told the guy no weights for balance so he suggested their "balance beads" and this put the total to roughly $1700, not too shabby, i think i can manage that, i already am getting a loan for a new tool box for work might as well slap another 1500 on LOL
on balancing, i know this has been discussed but i cant find it...sand or plastic bbs, and how much for a 34.5x13.40x15 bias ply tire? i dont want to pay the $30/ tire for the balance beads when sand or bbs work just as good and are fractions of that cost

I paid $1600 for my 44s shipped to my work from 4x4groupbuy.com. But u have to call and talk to them over the phone. they give better prices over the phone....
Why does no one listen to my anti-freeze for balancing idea. Really guys, its not that crazy! -_-
I get 18mpg in my DD, according to my fancy little computer.
My f-350.. well that varies greatly. From 5mpg burning out every two seconds.. to 8mpg driving normally. To 10 if i'm coasting alot and rolling downhills.
Eh hem. HOWS THAT DAMN TRAC BAR?!

i talked to the manager at kal tire and he says he can beat 376/tire for me since i work for peterbilt haha
EDIT:k so the site gives weight per tire size so it told me i need 10oz. per tire, cool, now to find 40oz. of plastic bbs lol...thank you for the site man
