Cut those fansy blue boots off and toss them in the trash where they belong. They actually trap dirt in them instead of keep it out.
ive never had a problem with that but i always put zip ties on both ends to keep em tight, i do a lot of gravel and i could see a big rock bouncing off the rod being worse then leaving the boots on...and with them on mud cant get built up around the bottom of the rod and harden also causing damage to the rod and seals plus i dont like the looks of just the rod in there i dont know why?
got 17.5" x 8.25" of .250" thick steel to buld my trac bar bracket, it was laying round the shop so i scooped it...i took a look at the frame in better detail and i think im goin with a design similar to the ones you pictured 75f350 , do you have any pics of those mounted on a truck?

well i guess my brake lines will be in early tomorrow so ill get them after work, along with my 78 trac bar and bushing kit
i am waiting till i get my drag link and trac bar in so i can get the right angles for the bracket but if i remember right the 78 trac bar is 36" and my drag link will be no more than 36.5"

Man, I gotta look to see if I have any pics of those brackets that are clear enough to see any detail. You know you can modify those to bolt on as well right? As I recall I even believe that the 78/9 1/2 ton shock mounts have some that are easilly incorperated into them since the trac bar is right below, or in line with the front shock.
As far as the "accordian booties", even if you have cable ties on them, they still have holes in them. They have to because if they did not they would pop like a baloon when compressed. Its really a preferance thing, but I prefer to never run those at all.
I have yet to see a shock that has suffered from an impact from a rock or something that has ever damaged the shock, its like sticking your elbow in your ear. Seems probable, but highly unlikely to happen. In race vehicles imacts come from drivers in front of you and rarely does a vehicle kick up anything with ehough force or velocity to damege ones own shocks.
Still if you like em, run em. Not really gonna hurt anything. If you have run them in the past and they did not fill up with mud then you dont have anything to worry about.
I have not been successful, mine always seemed to fill up.

cool thanks man...and yeah ive never seen en get full like that but thanks for telling me this, i will keep an eye on em and if they get crap in em ill drop them like a bad transmission
getting my...rear leaf springs/bushing kit, trac bar/bushing kit, front brake lines, rear shocks, and i am gonna start building the bracket tomorrow...sorry i didnt think to take pics of it drawn out on the steel but they will be cut out tomorrow so with any luck the whole truck will be done next week and the SAS will be done monday or tuesday if i get the braket build and no other problems occur with shipments ( everything but my brake lines are coming in overnight)...
on that bracket 75f350, how thick steel did you use and did you put gussets on it anywhere? i see the three pieces in the pic and i get where those go but is that all you used?, i keep thinking of ways to beef it up so theres no bending but then if you look at the stocker its pretty small...and the problem with bolting it on is that area of the frame is all boxed in for the power steering and not only that but there are power steering bolts everywhere i will just weld it and make things easier so i can go break stuff...er...uuhhh... i mean test stuff....yeah thats it ...would you suggest double welding (on both sides of the plates that make up the bracket) or just on one side of each plate

brake lines are in and sorta bled forgot pics ill post them up in a bit if i remember...
i bled the brake lines but there still seems to be insufficient resistance in the pedal...truck has ALL new brakes (front and rear calipers drums shoes and pads an all hardware) the pedal should get progressive harder to push the further it goes right? well mine doesnt well not until its an inch or less off the floor

Is your caster correct? The pinion angle looks to be aiming upward, I could be looking at it wrong. I guess the C bushings take care of all that, negative caster bad/positive caster good.
i got positive caster, just not quite enough, 7* bushings would have made it PERFECT but i planned on 78 brackets which would have also made it perfect, didnt get the brackets so no its a little low, i have 2* and i want at least 4* but when i build them new rad arm brackets that will fix that and the pinion angle
heres my leaf spings...MADE IN CANADA!
all to replace the stock springs and axle block and crappy rancho shocks
EDIT:: hey those u-bolts look a bit too long since i am removing the 2" axle block, would you suggest either putting the block on top of the axle if possible (havent looked to see if this is even possible yet) or cut the u-bolts down?
