G4 fold-a-cover

i am looking for a bedcover for my 09, does anyone on here have a G4 FOLD A COVER? its cost is about 90 buck higher than the bakflip cover, both are pricey, the g4 is a lockable cover and can be opened without opening the tailgate and can be opened from the front or rear. i like the g4 better than the bakflip.

never heard of it, I guess it's newer? which Bakflip are you comparing it to, the HD? The HD has a 3 year warranty vs. this G4 only has a one warranty. Also it sticks up on top of the rails while the HD cover is flush with the rails. But I do like that it can be opened with out opening the tailgate. I bet you still might have to open the cover before closing the tailgate though.

I already told you the best price (799) on where to get the HD, right?

after a quick ebay search of prices, it looks like you're trying to compare it with the Bakflip G2 cover?

i can get a g4 for 789 with free shipping and can get a g2 bakflip for 698 and free shipping, these prices are for the 6.5 bed.
i like the front access on the g4 better, don't mind thats its not flush mount. but i'm still looking.

the bakflip g2 is mostly plastic parts, hinges are plastic and panels are plastic, the fold a cover is all metal and will support 200 pounds of wieght on top of cover, if i get one it will be a fold a cover, with the front opening i can get a drop in insert box to put smaller items in like tools and groceries , suppose to be water tight but we'll see.

the fold a cover is truely lockable, never have to open tailgate to open cover. locks from the top, handy latches on top too.

well I see it's metal so then you should compare it to the HD cover which is metal too and the HD supports 300 pounds of weight instead of that G4 200 pounds. And the HD is only 10 bucks more. Plus the HD's warranty is longer too.

but hey, it sounds like it has the features you want so why don't you give it a try and then you can report back to us on how well it works and if it leaks water or not?

03Rangerkid, I sent you an email about the Bakflip covers.

Yeah, you want the HD not G2 if you're going for a Bakflip. Never seen the other brand's G4 in person, but if it covers the rails, it wouldn't have worked for me. I like my HD unit...it's strong enough to sit on when folded partially up. My kids use it to get their ski boots on while I'm using the more comfy "Man Step"! I used Steve's source and paid less than any of the prices quoted above...even yours Steve (sorry!).

the thing i hate about the backflip is the way it folds up in front of the rear window and lays against the cab. the g4 elite just folds up in a stack behind th cab and gives about 75 percent the bed and thats fine because i'll put the tool insert in the front section, as far as stacking 300 pounds on them i dont thing i'll be doing that even if it would hold a ton up.
you like the bakflip and thats fine, i liked them to until i seen the fold a cover. i just think its more versatile than the bakflip, and they've been in bussiness for 20 years according to thier web site. i still have not made up my mind yet but its looking like the fold a cover.

Does anyone have (or can point me to) any actual pics of the G4 on an 2009? I can only find pics from that deceiving downward looking angle.

I have pretty much decided on the Bakflip, but the G4 does have some compelling features. I'm worried the G4 sits a bit too high above the rails for my taste - so that will be the deal breaker for me.

Any actual pics are appreciated. Thanks!

again, I've never heard it or read anyone ever talk about having one and I've been on diifferent F150 forums for several years. Yes we like our Bakflips. But if you 2 guys seem so interested in the G4 why don't one of you be gineau pig and try it out and you can let everyone know how great it is or not?

but I guess I have heard of fold-a-cover and it seems quite obvious they are trying to copy off Bakflip using a similar name (G4) which is like G2.

here are some website photos of the fold a cover. front access to the item caddy insert.

its not flush mounted but still looks good i think, nice latch, don't have to open tailgate to open top like all other brands and its lockable.

ok DUDE, I'm just trying to help. you guys keep talking about the cover, but no body has ever mentioned it on here before, that's all I'm saying. You seem sold on it, so again, buy it and let us know by posting a detailed review about it. Those are nice pics that you posted, that helps....
