Brake rotor warping on 06 Screw 4x4
I have had issue with the brake rotors on my 06 super crew since 6,000 miles. They were turned at the dealer under warranty at 10,000, then warped again at 15,000. The dealership now wont take care of the issue (probably because they cant be turned again). I have contacted Ford customer care to work through the problem - anyhow, I believe this is a common problem on these trucks. Are many other people having warping issues on similar trucks?

it was a major issue for the early 2004 trucks...but that was because of the material the rotors were made from...a parts revision was made in late 2004 to correct
no problem with mine @ 26,000 miles...how hard to you drive the truck? it's rather hard to warp rotors...especially with these trucks. they have a 60/40 brake split vs. the conventional 80/20 or 70/30 splits. the rears do alot more stopping than previously.
you always jamming the brakes...or riding them alot?

Warped rotors is a myth. The actual term is Disc Thickness Variation and is not caused by the metal actually warping. The problem typically stems from improper break in. Although there can other factors such as keeping your foot on the brake after a hard stop.
Here's a some good reads so that I don't have to type.

Rotor warp isn't a myth....mine warped and i put a dial indicator on them and sure enough...lots and lots of warpage.......i went cheap and turned them....fixed it for 2000 miles before i had to do it again, still went fairly cheap and put on new napa premium rotors (rather than the cross drilled ones i wanted to put on) and wala....problem gone....no runout

I put almost 67k on my '06 4x4 and the rotors were still fine and the front pads could have gone a good while longer. The rotors would need turning for new pads. the rears were still in good shape, with about 7mm pad left, and the rotors were in fantastic shape (no turning needed). I replaced them with cross drilled just because I got hyped up reading some other posts, but really did not need to.
You can have my rotors for the cost of shipping if you want to go that route. (shipping from Charlotte, NC)

I have 16k on my 06 and I brake HARD and accelerate HARD because I still think I am going to get home faster in stop-n-go traffic that way. *sigh* No problems YET but I am sure if don't chill with the pedals I am going to need to attend to some kind of issue sooner than later.

I am on the third set of front rotors on my '04 and the truck has 82,000 miles. I changed them last summer because the tech said they could not be turned. (still had plenty of pad left) . Installed new ones and 8 months later, they were warped. Installed new Duralast rotors this time and hoping they will last longer than the last ones did.
