I dont have a picture but on the 5.4 its on the lower front of the engine on the drivers side just in front of the cross member and I believe its in the same location on the 4.6
No offence, but if your having trouble finding the oil filter, you may want to pick up a Haynes manual. The manual is under $20 from the local auto parts store... We all have a purpose in life and it sounds like autos is not one of your strong points. The manual will be VERY helpfull with maintanance and repairs...
A buddy of mine some years ago bought a new Ranger. He wanted to do his own oil changes to save a few bucks. After replacing the trans twice (under warranty) with in 4 years, he was obviouslly doing something wrong... Turns out he was draining the trans fluid
Duno how he missed that one considering he must have added oil somewhere Great guy, but not mechanically inclined to say the least...
I consider myself very mechanically inclined and I also use the manual for even the smallest projects...
welcome to the site
dive under front bumper on your back, start looking up at drivers side of center, you'll see it and while there spend time taking it all in
if you have'nt bought the truck yet take it to a mechanic YOU LIKE to have him check it out
until you get comfortable around the truck he will be your Best Friend

Serious? If you know what an oil filter looks like, and you look under the truck on the driver side, in the front area. You CANT miss it.

this may sound like a stupid question but why are you looking for the oil filter? i find it curious that you are looking for it on both engines, that's why i ask.

While we are on the subjetc of oil filters, how canone be removed w/o dripping oil all over the place. I see how maybe if accessing through the circular hole on the skid plate it may be easier to not get oil all over, but still I doubt it can be done.
put a plastic bag on the filter before you take it off....should prevent most drippings.....or just lay under it and it will protect your driveway....jk

hey hello to everyone. Im going to buy a F150 2004, and I Need a photo from the oil filter installed in the engine, to know where is the oil filter.
The guy doesn't own an F-150 yet, how should he know where it is? Get off his case lol
jstnromero, that's pretty smart thinking covering the oil filter with a plastic bag. All this time I've just been shoving paper towels up there to drain the oil a certain direction lol.
