Can You Identify It? (Pics)

So here it goes...
I had a '99 Ranger that I got to know very well. I could identify what was what under the hood and under the body. But now I'm new to the Super Duty world. I'm curious what stuff is (but not curious enough to mess something up!) I know some of you are pretty sharp and know these trucks well.

See if you can identify what's pictured. The pics should resize when clicked. This is a fairly basic 2009 F-250 XLT 5.4L with the manual transmission and manual transfer case BTW.

What is this... a switch? I don't think it's for the underhood lamp. All I can really gather is that the hood depresses it when closed.

#2
Here's a plug that doesn't really plug into anything at all!

#3
Here's a group of wires that just stop under the hood by the master cylinder. There's four wires together.

#4
This is directly under the radiator. Anyone know what this is?

#5
What's up with the two shielded hoses going to the oil filter? I traced them back to the radiator. Is coolant being routed to the oil filter?

#6
And finally, there another wire that suddenly ends at the rear of the vehicle near the trailer connector wiring. This is on the driver's side where the hitch bolts to the frame rail.

Pic #3 is the "Pass-Thru" wires.

The other ends of the four wires are under your dash, you can use these wires if you are adding accessories so you don't have to run extra wires through the firewall. Very handy!!!

#5 are they really going to the main radiator or to a seperate one. I know on my 2002 I have an oil cooler that those go to.

#5 is the oil cooler - the oil filter screws into a cooler that they pass coolant through to cool the oil off. Makes the engine last longer, and definitely usefull for operating under full load for long periods of time. This is a TRUCK in no uncertain terms.

#2, who knows. Maybe a diagnostics port for the evaporative control system, could be some option you don't have. Post the wire colors, maybe someone has an EVTM for the 2009.

#6 might be a reverse-lights wire, again, post the wire color. Reverse lights don't go to the trailer, but they may make it available for hooking up larger lights.

#4 might be an outside-temp sensor, it doesn't look like an air-bag sensor. Air bag sensors usually point forwards, and need to sense inertia in a straight line, it wouldn't be cocked like that.

#1, probably a hood ajar switch. Try leaving the hood up while in gear and see if you get a message.

#2, don't know

#3, user pass-through wires

#4, outside temp sensor

#5, don't know, but oil cooler sounds logical

#6, high brake light lead, for cap/shell

#4 air bag impact sensor.

just had to replace one!

Hope and pray you never have to replace the plug end. Over $1000.00 for the parts as Ford will not sell a repair plug for this part. You have to purchase the whole engine harness to service the crash sensor plug end!!

Not a better idea by Ford Did you have to replace it? Did it give you a bad light?

#2 is for the electronic shift on the fly solenoid which you don't have! It should have yellow blue and violet wires in it.

#4 Is a crash sensor.

Thanks for all the replies! I might be weird, but I like to have a good general idea of what's under the hood of a vehicle I own.

This switch has something to do with the alarm system. If you open the hood with the doors closed/locked, the alarm will be triggered honking the horn and flashing the lights. Ask me how I know this

That's not wierd. It's good to know those things. People that no interest at all kind of make me wonder (not including women) Yikes, did I open a can of worms?
