Can You Identify It? (Pics)
So here it goes...
I had a '99 Ranger that I got to know very well. I could identify what was what under the hood and under the body. But now I'm new to the Super Duty world. I'm curious what stuff is (but not curious enough to mess something up!) I know some of you are pretty sharp and know these trucks well.
See if you can identify what's pictured. The pics should resize when clicked. This is a fairly basic 2009 F-250 XLT 5.4L with the manual transmission and manual transfer case BTW.

What is this... a switch? I don't think it's for the underhood lamp. All I can really gather is that the hood depresses it when closed.
#2
Here's a plug that doesn't really plug into anything at all!
#3
Here's a group of wires that just stop under the hood by the master cylinder. There's four wires together.
#4
This is directly under the radiator. Anyone know what this is?
#5
What's up with the two shielded hoses going to the oil filter? I traced them back to the radiator. Is coolant being routed to the oil filter?
#6
And finally, there another wire that suddenly ends at the rear of the vehicle near the trailer connector wiring. This is on the driver's side where the hitch bolts to the frame rail.

#5 is the oil cooler - the oil filter screws into a cooler that they pass coolant through to cool the oil off. Makes the engine last longer, and definitely usefull for operating under full load for long periods of time. This is a TRUCK in no uncertain terms.
#2, who knows. Maybe a diagnostics port for the evaporative control system, could be some option you don't have. Post the wire colors, maybe someone has an EVTM for the 2009.
#6 might be a reverse-lights wire, again, post the wire color. Reverse lights don't go to the trailer, but they may make it available for hooking up larger lights.
#4 might be an outside-temp sensor, it doesn't look like an air-bag sensor. Air bag sensors usually point forwards, and need to sense inertia in a straight line, it wouldn't be cocked like that.

This switch has something to do with the alarm system. If you open the hood with the doors closed/locked, the alarm will be triggered honking the horn and flashing the lights. Ask me how I know this
