Going Didgital

Just wondering if any of you here may have any ideas on changing my mechanical gauges to didgital? I'm mainly wanting to know if there is any kind of adapter or something for the speedo. The rest I'll wire my self...

Those are definitely pretty sharp, but I don't think they're worth the $600. You have to cut up your existing bezel as well.

It wasn't that hard to put in.

And very accurate and the speedometer is adjustable for larger tires and they look and perfom great. I'm quite happy with the swap and will probably do the same to the crew I'm restoring.

Your absolutely right about the $$$ part. But if you consider how much it would cost for the same gauges from Autometer it would probably be more $$$. The Dakota digital gauges actually aren't unreasonable when you think about it that way. Unfortunately for me, it's still too much $$$ right now.

When I decided to do the Autometer swap in my drag car,I thought I could do it somewhat cheap,Boy was I wrong though. I have a Speedo, fuel gauge and an oil gauge that were over $500 bucks for the gauges alone. The asking price may seem high, but worth the price in my book..

If you are going to use an electronic speedometer you'll need the electronic speed sensor that goes into the transmission. You'll use your existing gear on the end of your current speedo cable for the speed sensor and then just wire things up. When your done, you'll just have to calibrate. Of course mine isn't digital, but I'm sure a digital speedo uses the same or equivilent speed sensor.

I will agree that the Dakota Digital setup is expensive, but as said already autometer gauges aren't any cheaper if you make your own setup.

Heres what I did. To me Autometers look way better than the digital. Digital just doesnt seem to fit with the truck.
