Can anyone suggest a decent hotel in Rapid? Taking the family out there for a weekend in May, just wondering what would be a good place to stay. The only time I've stayed there was a few years ago driving through with the Uhaul... stayed at a place near the mall.
We just plan to go to Mt Rushmore and do the 1880's train ride on this trip.

I stayed at the Ramkota and it was an alright place to stay and if i remember right they have a nice water park now. If not that, most of those Hotels around the Mall are pretty nice.
I took the Incinerator (AKA rabbit) back home this weekend. I had go to H20town saturday and got over 50 mpg. Then i drove back to Huron and drove around alot. When i got back today, I had over 300 miles on it from just 2 days of driving. Heck I even brought a 400 Honda EX back with me and i didnt even notice it back there.
As far as Rapid there are some new places right off of Exit 61. On the south side of I-90. They are also right off the SE connector loop and that will take you to Highway 16 and up to Hill City to ride the train. And MT Rushmore. I think its close to Cabela's.
I have a couple pics of the pickup on Facebook. Will try to get a couple over to photobucket and I will link it in.
My present fleet:
2005 F150 4.2, 2 wheeled drive 173,000 miles
1997 Expedition, 4x4, 5.4 230,000 miles
Several others who have come and gone.
Cool, I'll check on the Ramkota and try and see what's off exit 61... That sounds like a convenient spot, and close to Cabela's sounds good too...
(just don't tell the wife... sorry honey, there was a terrible traffic jam at the "gas station", yeah, that's it... Cabela's sacks in the trunk? That's odd, don't know where those could have come from!?!)
Dang I cant believe april is half gone. I havent even gotten the planter out n got it ready. took the chisel plow out n scratched some ground open to dry it out faster n got the tractor stuck i really hope we dont get any rain this weekend but more so hope we dont have the same kinda spring we did last year.
