low pressure in tank fuel pump

I traded a riding lawnmower......yep,..a lawnmower for a 89 f-250 with a 5.8 the old truck needs some work(but so did the mower) I need to get the truck home , its about 30 miles from my house but the guy said the fuel tank had water in it and the in tank low pressure fuel pump was bad.He had the flatbed sitting off it for 3 monthes and water got in somehow,is there anything i can rig temporary on there like another tank with an aftermarket fuel pump to get the fuel to the high pressure pump on the fuel rail, just long enough to get it home? I know it will need a new tank and pump, but the guy needs it moved and i need to get it here to the shop so i can take my time and do everything right. thanks for any suggestions you may have.

How about a tank in the bed and just gravity fed to the high pressure pump?

Hope it works for you. Is there any way you could fit a new fuel filter on site? Just in case the old one is full of crud. If you could you will need the little filter pipe removal tool.

Not sure but I think from `87 up to `90 after that they went to single in tank high press. pump.

The low pressure in-tank/high pressure frame pump setup may go back as far as 85 on the first EFI 302 trucks, but I don't know for sure. Definitely 87-89 used that setup, I remember 90 being the first year for the high pressure in-tank setup.
