Got tired of looking so I made one

I couldn't find a floor cover to go over the tranny in my 50f1 for less than a $100. So I had a sheet of 16 gauge in my garage so I decided to try to make one. It's my first time to try to make anything with sheet metal this thin so don't LOL to loud.

Looks good, I like 16ga better than 22ga. It's a bit easier to weld.

I'm not laughing, looks pretty good. Once bit of advice, make sure you put a little insulation on the weld on the high corners to protect your floor covering. I also agree, the heavier the metal the better.

Looks GREAT Rusty!

And I'll bet it fits great too. Congratulations! You are now a true Ford Truck Restorer - sheet metal, a big hammer and a welder - that's all ya need most of the time!

Ok now leave it to me to ask a stupid question. But, I noticed you had one in the pictures to use as a pattern. Why not just weld that one closed - or did yo just borrow it to use as the pattern?

Hi Julie; I used that one to kinda go by it came with the truck and it has a BIG hole on one side, and the rest of it is full of rusted pin holes. If you hit it with a hammer it falls apart.LOL RUSTY

Hi going slow;;
I have a 700R4 and I'm using a B&M shifter on the floor. But it uses a cable. No need for a big hole in the floor. RUSTY
