Dumb luck and a transmission question

I bought a 56 longbed for cheap cuz it has a sweet cab that I desperately needed... It has a 272 with a 4 speed... The guy said it hasn't run in 30 years... So I brought it home and rebuilt the carb and the ol girl fired right up... Couldn't believe it!!!! Fixed a couple of leaking radiator hoses and getting ready to change the oil now that she's warmed up.

My question... I'm sitting on the floor board playing with the gears... and I can't find reverse... the **** shows reverse to be all the way to the right and up but that's a forward gear (wants to creep forward)...

My shop manual doesn't give me any info and I don't have an owner's manual for it...

Please help...

Bravo

Follow the ****'s pattern. Try pushing down as you move to Rev. Make sure the clutch is all the way down (or engine off).

Alrighty...

Ran back outside and "persuaded" it to the right... must not of used reverse the last 30 years... anyway... popped over to the right and up... Reverse has been found!

Now to swap everything over to the 110" frame...

Thanks for the help

Sounds like you should pop the top cover off the tranny at least, check for rust etc., before you get too far down the road.
