REar Heat in 2006 Expedtion has leaking hose
Group my wifes 2006 Expedtion has a leaking hose for the heater core, curved hose with a factory crimped end. Well the crimped area is leaking.
Can this be cut out and just clamped with some heater hose and hose clamps? Why the crimped end? Its not under pressure that much (16lbs)
Anybody fix this?
Joe

the mechanic that just inspected it, says its a heater hose, i thought when i saw the leak it felt like clear oil, but then he told me theres not that much oil in the a/c system to leak ,as much as this is. I get a spot on my driveway everynight the size of a softball, and thats been for amonth now..
what do you think?

I'm not there to be able to see the color of the fluid. But if it's clear as you say, then I would question the mechanic's diagnosis based strictly on the assumption of the system's oil quantity.
The PAG oil in the A/C system has a very loose viscosity which allows it to spread very thin. It would only take a few drops to make that softball sized spot. There is about 1/4 of a quart of oil in the system (more if you have rear air) and that's assuming it was filled correctly. If it's a heater hose leaking, the fluid should be the same color as what you see in the coolant bottle.
