Thanks havi, you are correct, i can go down in price any time, but if i start to low im stuck, 53 is good i'll go w/ that. Thanks KODA P.S. i like the quote you have at the bottom of you replies. very fitting to my job!!
Your asking price on the F-1 is in the middle of the ones I told you about. It's fair. Whether it's gonna sell at that price I have no idea, but like Havi said, it's easy to come down but not to go up. I emailed Mark. He had not seen it but I'm sure has now. And I think you're in the ball park on the '53. Stu

hi every one, i fired up the ol' 52 friday, had to take the fuel line off at the bottom of the tank & clean it out, it had what looked like bee's plugging the line. its got a good filter in the line near the firewall so i don't think it'll be a problem. stuck some jumper cables on the battery and she fired up just like a brand new one, lol. made sure it ran but didn't want to run it to long w/o air filter. no one has found a buyer yet??? just kidding, i'm sure someone will come along sooner or later. KODA
its been a few weeks so i thought i would put an update on here, i've only had 1 guy call, i think he was from Kansas, any way he was looking for a deal or to low ball me. but at least i can say i did get a call about it. so i lowered my asking price down to 4250.00 to see what happens? thanks and give me a call if intrested 970/209-6729 KODA
Do any of you fella's still have the notifacation on to this thread? if you do i've got more questions- i'd like to know what color the old truck was when it was new? the color code on the tag/plate in the glove box is SS. anyone willing to educate me on what that means, also when i got it from the nabors it had three 17 inch wheels & a block under the 4th corner, i found four 16 inch wheels w/ 6.50X16 tires that fit it so thats whats on it now, what size did it most likely come with??? THanks guys.
Good to hear back from you. The SS meant special paint. That was the code used when a fleet color was ordered. That wouldn't be too surprising on yours because a good many of the MHs were sold to mining companies, logging companies, etc. You'll probably find the original color hidden under the hood, behind the seat, or anywhere that was protected from the sun.
The stock tire/wheel combo on a F-1 MH was a 6.50 x 16 on a 4.5 x 16 Kelsey Hayes rim. The MH Model LD-7 Parts Manual also shows that optional sized wheels were 15 x 5.5, 15 x 6.00, 16 x 5.5, 16 x 6.00, and 16 x 6.5. Stu

good to hear from you also, Stu. Thanks for the info, the color that seams to be the first (under several others) is highway dept. orange so that answers that. second Q. how can i tell if the rim's i've got are kelsey hayes-- will they be stamped some place? or does it make any differance as long as they are 16X4.5??
also where can i find a LD-7 manual either a reproduction or original, if they are not to costly? Thanks
there is one more number on the tag on the glove box lid that i don't know what it is, the paint is scratched but possibly its a product#, the number is 26EDP355, its the last # on the tag- bottom right corner. any idea's ? Thanks KODA
I'd guess that they are K-H. The only stampings I've found on mine are in the center near the lug nuts. There should be a "K-H" stamped on one of the raised areas between lug nuts, and a Ford oval stamped on another of the raised areas.
I can make a copy of my LD-7 manual and send it to you if you'll cover copying and mailing costs. Mine is a copy that Don Chew made for me. He's a MH expert who lives in Brighton, CO, which is I think on the eastern side of the mountains. I'll see if I can send you a private message with my email address since the FTE folks don't like email addresses in public postings.
Production Code is a very inexact science, but I'll tell you what the books say. The book says the following. "The Production Code indicates the day of the month, the month and the truck produced". There is also then a chart with the months and corresponding letter codes. So, yours was made on the 26th day, and was the 355th produced (I assume it would be that day. I can't believe it would mean that month.) But per the books there should only be one letter, not three. The letter "E" would signify May, "D" signifies April, and "P" signifies February. Every time this comes up the Production Code doesn't cleanly fit the manual explanation. It's been speculated that different plants might have done things their own way, or that additional info was included that only meant something to them. And no record of the other explanations seems to have survived. So, that's what I know. I'll see if I can do you a PM.
Edit - I was afraid of that. You don't have enough posts yet to allow you to receive PMs. I think it's 25 posts. If you want me to make a copy maybe post your mailing address if you're ok doing that and I'll send the manual and a note with what it cost to copy and mail. Stu

thanks Stu, we'll hold off on the manual, just thought i'd look it over if i had one. maybe i'lll try to contact mr. Chew, i'm sure i can locate him through phone books or a serch on the www. if you don't think he would mind? i do get over to the north & east of denver part of Colorado a couple times a year. would love to look at his M-H's if he's got any restored.
I'll look for the marking on the wheels first time im home, as i live 170 miles from where its parked at my parents. as always you're a great help!! thanks KODA
It's been a few years since he did a copy for me. He's not a young man anymore, and doesn't use a computer as I recall. The manual is nice to have, but it's not really as important to have as the Ford Service Manual. Here's a link to some pics of his place that a guy posted on the ATHS web site. Stu
