Electric fan on a 77 400 f-250

Do a search for lincoln mark VIII electric fan. I just scored one for $30 at a boneyard a couple weekends ago, and it is a perfect match for the radiator in my 77 highboy. It fits like it was made for it. There is a lot of info out there regarding this fan. It is a two speed, and it flows a ton of air. It also uses a lot of power, like 30 amps when on "high", but some guys say that they never have to use it on high. I have a fairly built 460 in my truck, and just by judging from the way this new fan fits the radiator and from the info I've gathered about it's flow potential, I'm sure it will cool my junk. I'll post a follow up when I get my truck back together in a couple months(frame is currently bare and awaiting sandblasting).
Good luck,
Jared
Also, in order to use the two speed function, I'm assuming that one will need to wire up two different relays. There are many aftermarket kits for wiring electric fans, but it is fairly straightforward if you have some electrical knowledge.

Took the words out of my mouth.
Yeah I was just getting back and mention a alternator upgrade is mandatory if fan is on high. I have a alternator that puts out 103 amps at 1500 rpm and goes on up to 240 amps. I have winches on my trucks and everything working at once sure sucks things down on the volts in a hurry if winching. I now run dual batteries also with isolator between batteries.

I have installed a markviii fan on my '73. I will try and post some pics next week. It is a 2 speed fan but I think the second speed was controlled by a module that varied the current based on engine speed. I can hook up to either fan input terminal and it seems the fan speed is the same. Amp draw is over 100 at startup and 40-50 amps when running so alternator will need an upgrade as most alternators are 45-65 amps on these trucks. I have 75a 2g alternator (low rpm output stinks) and will be soon changing to 3g or 6g 130A alternator that will put out 80a or more at idle. I am using a 90A continuous duty solenoid as the relay with a manual switch to cut on and off, buy Hayden/Imperial makes a temperature controlled switch for around $35 that can also be used. This fan is a puller, so make sure you don't cross polarity and make pusher.

One more shot from the side to show clearance to pulleys. You like my serpentine belt??? My 7 year old son weaved that on their...it's a lawnmower belt...lol...Also the red wire coming over the top of the radiator to the solenoid relay is my 12v + switch to turn on the relay. I have it manually controlled from the dash to cut on and off when I want.
