Anyone into drag racing?

Anyone compete in drag racing? My father-in-law races in Bunkerhill about every weekend in the summer. I have a ford ranger with a 347 in the works. Any of you race?

It has been many years since I raced, however, I am dying to build another drag car.

I have an '80 Zephyr Z-7 (originally a turbo 2.3) I blew up many years ago and bought a 12pt cage for it last fall. I am hoping if all goes well this summer to get it back halfed and the cage in it this summer.

I have the better part of the parts to build a 514 for it just waiting for some spare time to put it together.

I will probably go up to 131 dragway in Mich. when it is done.

I am not really sure, it will depend on if I put the 8-71 on it or not.

My wife is interested in maybe driving it and has never raced- I certainly am not going to put her behind the wheel with the 8-71 on it!!

I figure either way a 12pt is a given, it will either be required, or, I will need it to keep from being stuck raising 2 kids on my own!!

What are you running?

I know myself well enough to know if I could put it on the street I would do something stupid so it is better to take that out of the equation.

I am to old to go to jail.!!!

Well, I wish I could race my truck. It's just too damn heavy. If I had a lighter, faster truck or a good car, I sure as hell would.

My grandpa used to race circuit in the Midwest Cup with an old Chevy (it was a GM, not sure of brand). He won 2 years in a row. Hell, my F250 is bone stock and faster than some cars. Same with my 96 Sable!!! I just wish I could get my hands on an old Mustang, even a Fox body would make me happy. I just want it to have a V-8 under the big ol' hood.

To Heavy???

You just need more cubes !!!

557 inches of supercharged ford muscle will put the fear of god into any mustang, no matter what it is in !!!

Whats keeping you from picking up a toy??

Wife is no excuse - Try this philosophy-

It is easier to get forgiveness than it is permission.

I live by it

( I will not be held responsible for any bodily injury incurred by applying this philosophy)

Fox bodies are pretty readily available and not to expensive - take the dive - Obama is send us checks soon!!!

Whats stopping you? My truck weighs like 8000lbs and I still take her down the track. You just have to race a ET Bracket class to have a fair chance.

Well, I'm into it but it gets real loud now that our union meetings were moved to Sundays and we're right across from the Osceola dragstrip.

Someone needs to buy the Terre Haute track and get it going again.

our hall is directly across from the dragstrip. When I'm at the meeting, I hear the motors, and would rather be over there watching.
