c6 whine

the last few days i have been out in the country stretching my mustangs legs and tonite i did a 2-1 kickdown and after that i noticed a loud high pitched whine from what seemed like the bellhousing area of the trans. i shut the car off and when i restarted it the noise was gone. later i drove it again and only after hard acceleration the noise returned. it is in any gear (park or nuetral) and is rpm related. the trans seems to act the same but im worried something might be going out on it. any help would be great.
