Towing mirrors
Reposted from SD Forum:
We have an '01 F350SD that came with the trailer towing mirrors. Both my wife and I think they're just great.
Now, my wife (!) found and bought a '93 F250 (every woman has to collect something!). It's got the small mirrors. door mounted, and neither of us like them much.
So, the question: Does anyone make an aftermarket version of towing mirrors anything like the '01 factory style? The door frame construction is so different between the '93 and the '01 that I don't see any way to mount the '01 type.
Thanks for your help,
BobD

Towing mirrors
Go to any parts house ( I usually go to NAPA) and they should have West Coast mirrors. The heads alone are running about $7.00 ea at NAPA and if you need the arms they can order you a complete kit. The problem with using West Coast "kits" is they are actually designed for big trucks and the mirrors sit WAY out from the cab, so they are almost useless. You will have to shorten the mounting arms to keep them in close to the cab so you can see down the side of your truck. Don't forget 6" spots. Any bigger and they look gaudy and 5's are too small. I made my last set of mounts for my '93.
At first it takes some getting used to because you can see everything, but once you get used to them - most notably where the blind spots are - you 'll never go back.
Another option, go to Ford and get the camper mirrors that were stock on those trucks. I had a stock set on a '94 Ford (my wife's) that worked really well, considering they weren't "real mirror's".
