Modern a/c compressor mount up on an FE
Maybe this should be in the FE forum, maybe not.
My truck came with factory A/C- its a '73 F100 4x4 XLT Ranger with a 360 (390 almost built.... its gonna rock!!!!). Somewhere along the line a PO gave up on trying to keep the a/c from leaking and took it out- he removed the compressor and mounts, and cut the hoses- a**hole. I recently had a talk with a friend-of-a-friend who is a 30+ year ford tech here in ABQ. He told me the York compressors don't like to seal with R134a, so maybe I should consider fabbing mounts for a more modern compressor. Does anyone have any experience with this? Have a favorite compressor? Know of a seal kit that shores up a York compressor to be compatible with (cheap) 134A refrigerant?
