I took a copy of the TSB to the dealer today and their response was the same, since no codes and they could not duplicate they would not reflash my pcm. I told them that I wanted them to put on my work order that I requested the TSB reflash and it was refused by the dealer. They changed their mind and installed it. They are waiting on a fuel level sensor that is throwing codes, so I dont know what change if any to the trans function.

Hey oldguy4, Yes I own a 442w30 conv, had it for 39 years, orig owner. 1 of 110 built.
So I did get my trans reflashed and it is really like nite and day as far as operation. BUT they were also supposed to address the temp control as at 65 to 75 it will not stay constant, will blow cold then hot and now I can hear the 6disc cd constantly shuffling the cds and I am not playing the cd player!!!!! one step forward 2 back ARGHHH! My olds never was in for any warrenty work and everything works with the exception of the factory 8 track. Power windows, seats cruise ac still has the original charge.

See TSB text below. Google will find what you want most of the time, once you have enough information to know what to search for...

TSB 08-14-03

2007-2008 F-150/MARK LT BUILT BETWEEN 12/4/2006 TO 5/20/2008 ONLY - ENGINE RPM FLARE DURING 3-4 UPSHIFT UNDER LIGHT THROTTLE ONLY - 5.4L 3V / 4R75E ONLY
SOME 2007-2008 F-150 AND MARK LT VEHICLES BUILT BETWEEN 12/4/2006 TO 5/20/2008, EQUIPPED WITH A 5.4L 3V AND 4R75E, MAY EXHIBIT AN ENGINE RPM FLARE DURING LIGHT ACCELERATION DURING THE 3-4 UPSHIFT. THIS WOULD ONLY OCCUR AT ROAD SPEED RANGES FROM 25-30 MPH (40-48 KM/H). NO DTCS OR OTHER DRIVABILITY OR TRANSMISSION ISSUES WOULD BE PRESENT. REPROGRAM THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) TO THE LATEST CALIBRATION USINGIDS RELEASE 54.5 AND HIGHER. THIS NEW CALIBRATION IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE VCM 2008.3 DVD. CALIBRATION FILES MAY ALSO BE OBTAINED AT MOTORCRAFT PARTS FOR FORD, LINCOLN OR MERCURY VEHICLES.
Those of you that had problems with the dealerships not wanting to reprogram your PCM due to no DTCs, did you point out the sentence I have highlighted in orange above?

I am having the same problem for the last week or so and would like to get it fixed next week as it is annoying.

Also, since it makes the shifting better all around, I'd like that too.

Thanks,
John T

glad to see the TSB and how it is helping people. The post below just really stuck out at me, and since nobody else has addressed it, I'm going to

I'm about 99% sure your transmission overfilled with fluid right now.

The only way to check tranny fluid level is when the motor/tranny are at operating temperature and the motor is running.
There are 2 reasons for this.
1. The oil pump is circulating the fluid
2. The Fluid has expanded due to thermal affects

Ford (and every other Auto maker) factors those 2 things into the equation that determines the proper Fluid level in a transmission.
The Hash marks on the dipstick are for a HOT Tranny with the engine running. By checking the fluid with it cold (and motor off?), it will seem low and not even be close to the hash marks.

I highly suggest you recheck your fluid levels when warmed up and motor running. I'll bet your fluid level is way way over the hash marks max fill level. If so, I'd drain that puppy back into spec's ASAP

My mistake. I may have worded my post incorrectly. When it is warm it now sits in the hash marks. (doing the procedure in the owners manual) When it was cold it did not even show on the dipstick. When warm, before I added the oil it was barely showed in the hash marks but it must have been splashing, the oil was spotted all over the dipstick. I had it add the dealer the other day when I was pricing some tires. They checked it also and it was fine. They had some good deals on the 285 and 305 BF Goodrich AT tires. In the next few days I put my 2,5" AS leveling kit and rear add a leaf on. Then I will be taking it back to get the tires and have the TSB done. They are going to do it all at once.

Now the question is. Get the 285 or the 305's? Does anyone know if a dealer can re-flash for larger tires?

P.S it is still out of the hash marks when cold. The temp. here is still around 33F most days.

Have not experienced the mystery shifting since the reflash. The trans works like a completely different trans.

I would understand the Olds thing. I had a 75 Toronado that I put a W-30 in. It was a brutal front tire thrashing 14 second luxury beast. LOL

But yes, we are off topic...

Man.....I REEEally hope someone sees this. I'm new to the site, new and I the thread, have somewhat of the same problem. ....except. My Ranger is an '08, of May. I bought it ised about six months ago. The dealer warranty is litterally 3 das from expiring.
I have had basically the same problem since week one of owning. The truck "slips" out of Drive WHILE driving and also sometimes just doesn't want to engage into drive...seems like its just sitting in nuetral after I've dropped the shifter into drive. Happens all the time, EXCEPT when I have a mechanic in tue passenger seat.....so the dealership won't touch it without me assuming all resonsibility...which is slightly frightening.
Happens mostly when its still cold, however not limited to. Also, has been made obvious that right hand turns will throw it into this fit, again, just feels like its went into nuetral, and also any inclines...facing up hill. You cant even feel it pulling like its "slipping", more like its out of gear altogether.
Fluid levels are always fine. Truck runs drives and even shifts just fine....only this one BIG problem. Its left me rolling/idling down to a stop in the middle of an intersection!

Someone please help!

my 07 4.6 4x2 is doing the exact same thing. Is there a tsb for the 4.6, similar to the tsb 8-14-3 (which is for the 5.4)? TSB 8-14-3 description is the exact symptoms my 4.6 is having
