I just bought an 07 EB Expy 4x4 and love it. It seems to have a couple of issues I'm trying to work out. Just got the vehicle yesterday. When you turn off the vehicle the drivers seat slides back automatically to make way for exiting. I came back to get somethig out of the truck and heard a click-click noise in the cabin. It would "click-click" then pause for a couple seconds, then "click-click" again. It just kept doing this. I found the noise was coming from under the drivers seat. I bumped the seat forward button and the noise quit. This happened one other time yesterday. I kept checking every time I got out of the car but it appears to be an intermittent issue? Anybody have any ideas what is happening of any fix. I understand this is electrical in nature, but unfortunately I am not.

 

The gears may have stripped that move the seat forward. Try moving the seat all the way forward and go through the back door and look at the track as you move the seat to see if you can locate the clicking sound.

This is different. It isin't coming from the track but maybe from the switch or a relay under the seat. It sounded like when you slide the button to move your seat and it first clicks on, then when you let it go it clicks off. That's the sound it makes, only no one was sliding the button and it was just clicking twice, pausing, then clicking twice. It was definately an electrical noise, not mechanical. I've been listening for it but it has only happened twice out of 10 or 15 entry and exits.

 

Is the seat working regardless of the noise?

I know when the seat is moved to the full back position, it stops, you push the button again and then goes an extra inch or so. That is a design flaw. Maybe the easy entry feature is pushing the seat all the way back.

 

Yes it is, this is hard to explain. Everything works as it should. It was just a switch or relay that was stuck cycling on and off. It was not affecting the movement of the seat or anything. I'm just afraid it could happen again and drain my battery or cause other electrical gremlins. The seat does the auto exit when I turn off the car. But the times it has had the problem, I came back to the truck and it SOUNDED like the seat was stuck trying to move forward or back with a pause in between. Physically moving the switch a little made it stop.

 

Issue hasn't happened in almost two weeks now. Must've run over the gremlin when the seat was powering forward and squished the little bugger. Knock on wood

 

Have you tried setting the pre-set seat positions? When you unlock the door with one of the two transmitters, the seat will go to the programmed setting when you get in. Press SET, then #1 or #2.

Maybe your seat is set to a bad spot and you just need to move it slightly.

 

There was a TSB issued for this some time ago.

I had it. They replaced my seat sensor or something and it's been fine since.
