I just looked at what seems like a very nice original 62 Uni long box with 292 and three speed and 3.70 axle. Thinning original paint but seems to be rust free. A lot of new parts installed. No leaks nor use of fluids. 25 year barn find.

I am getting the itch---what do you guys think of it?? It is just missing the original and hard to find tailgate-but the seller says that another tailgate will be part of the deal. Look at the chrome heads on the front bumper carriage bolts-the bumper looks to have never been repainted!! Just the dang aftermarket rear bumper detracts .

The truck needs paint--but look at the rest of the truck---only surface rust and the bed floor is mostly straight. Just wish that it was a short box.

Is 4500.00 too much?? It seems to just need a factory color paint job of T code/Sandshell Beige to be a very nice truck.

That looks like a pretty solid survivor. I can imagime the tailgate might be tough to locate. It's too bad someone clobbered the uphostery on the driver's seat. The rest of the truck is very original looking. Good luck!

 

Yeah-the seat isnt factory pattern-but serviceable. I also noticed in the picture of the inside of the driver's front fender--something that looks like a rust hole--but it isnt visible from the outside.

The truck is very original though.

 

The tailgate is a $600 item; Truck looks great, just hard for me to give 4500, but its solid, I must admit I've paid 2k for a primer 65 back in 01. Now have invested 10k more into it since then.
62 Uni swb with big back window is my dream truck.
Everybody has a limit in cost, what's your plan with it; if you buy it?

I would give it a first rate professional paint job-in the original code T. And detail the undercarriage and the engine bay-make it look like it did when it left the Ford factory in June 1962. I have always thought that a perfectly stock vintage truck has a strong appeal . No aftermarket parts nor any part types made after 1962-other than the radial tires.100 percent stock.

 

Atleast your focus on your plans and I'm looking forward to seeing the end result, if you decide to buy.
Won't fine one that good of shape in my area of the world.

looks very good...as far as paint goes...I cant tell you how many times Ive heard of paint jobs becoming full restorations...most usually unfinished too...I wouldnt touch anything, except the front seat...originality simply CANNOT be duplicated...theres a reason that paint has survived...lead...which todays paints dont have...oh yeah...I would get the front bumper repainted in the OE Corinthian white...THATS IT !!! The undercarriage looks darn near same as day one...I wouldnt touch a thing under there...BUT, For original, it would need single exhaust put back on...

man why couldnt I be related to Bill Gates...Id be all over it...

You know--you make a good point about leaving the original paint alone. The Ford paint from the early 60s was very durable.And a vehicle of this age usually doesnt have original paint. I can spot the FORD original paint immediately in a car show-after having several early 60 Fords .

The seat can be changed to original pattern without much expense.

The truck has only single exhaust though--still has the crossover in front of the engine and still has the original pattern cylinder muffler.

And the dash hasnt been cut for a Ford radio nor aftermarket radio.And the firewall hasnt been repainted-note the black rubber plug in the middle of the upper firewall--it hasnt been painted.

 

yeah...SMS would prolly have the seat material for it
And I did notice the new single exhaust..my bad in last post..

Phoneman91, Nice truck are you shure it's a 62 looks like a 61 grille? as far as tailgates you can get an aftermarket one for around $400.00

 

The VIN number shows that the truck was manufactured in June 1962.Truck manufacturing continued for the 62 MY until August 1962. A 61 grill would have "FORD" in place of the long star in the middle.

Thanks ,Randy. I just am impressed with the originality of this Ebay truck. Dont see many like this anymore.I just have to consider if I can afford a divorce and this truck . The Wife just doesnt understand and appreciate these trucks like we do.

I mention $600 due to the oversize frieght shipping charge of atleast $100 if I recall to his home state. But its worth the cost to have a solid truck and a solid tailgate to match. Excellent truck is worth the keeping, painting the gate is another cost in my figure.

Also sounds like "Phoneman" is marry to my wifes sister in his comment of she just doesn't understand the reason for buying "an old truck"!!!!!
