I have a 1954 317 Ford Y Block EAM marked motor. Where can I find specs on this Heavy Duty Truck Engine? Engine color would be nice to have as well. Thanks! Larry

 

SOmeone may have to correct me but I belive the 317 was a Lincoln Y block.

 

Yes 1954 Lincoln y block for HD ford trucks EAM casting is a 317. Try googling for more info. Lots of people try looking to us FTE y blockers for lincoln Y info with little luck. The ford Y is hard to deal with due to age. The lincoln has age and lack of coonality to boot.
The oil pump and distributor are listed as being common and thats it. I wish you luck though.

 

hi, you can get spec. in any ( motors ) truck repair manual listing 52-55 F-8 and F-800 ford trucks. the HD 302-332 lincoln based truck motor from 57-64 are the same family. it looks like a ford y-block execpt the intake ports are side by side instead of stacked on top of each other. as for color you might try cleaning the engine to see what it was before. ford y's were yellow, red, and black, even ivory. 56-7 lincolns were dark green, early lincoln 317's were gold. i've seen some light blue or turkoise, might have been marine.
