'54 F100 Seat Swap

I'm trying to figure out what to get my dad for his birthday and I'd really like to help him finish his rebuild of a 1954 F100. He took the bench seat out and wants to put in buckets. He bought a set from a Dodge but they don't fit under the window so he doesn't fit between the wheel and the seat. He says the original bench has springs poking through so do you guys think it'd be easier for me to have the bench rebuild or do you know of buckets that would fit easily? I was looking at possibly seats out of a Ranger but I figured you'd all have a better idea. Thanks!

EDIT: I did try searching and I see the answer for the GM bench but I'm hoping to get buckets. Is a custom bucket the only way to go is my question I guess.

This may be more work than you had in mind, but the price, fit and comfort is very good. I put some buckets out of my old '90 Eldorado into my 56. I scrounged the seats, the controls from the door, etc and grafted all into the truck. Now, I have really cushy 6-way buckets for those nice long rides. They fit below the window and are thin-backed, so there is plenty of room between my belly and the steering wheel.

My gallery shows each step of the install: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...&albumid=31067

Good luck!

54 seats

Personally, I like a bench seat in a pickup. I also find the leg and "ab" room a little tight. I ended up with this. Rear seat from a Saab convertible. Cheap, leather was good enough to use "as is", just had to build a platform and remove some unnecessary hardware.

Just putting this out there as a reminder, you aren't restricted to truck front seats.

PS. How do you get the pic to show up, instead of the link?

Last month I pulled some out of a '97 Dodge Intrepid. Real nice buckets and they were only 16$ apiece. They replaced a bench seat out of a Buick LeSabre. Now I'm on a search for a narrow console.Good Luck with your decision

Thanks guys... I prefer the bench too but it's for my dad's truck so his preference comes first. I think he wasa planning on building a bracket anyway, considering the buckets he has now are from a Dodge... Dakota I think...

There is a "pull-a-part" wrecking yard in Tacoma right off 512 and Steele st. I bet there is one near Seattle also Everett on old 99. They have crazy cheap prices, dosen't matter if it's out of a caddy or a dakota pu same price. A pair of buckets are about $32. Some need recovering some are like new. Check it out!
