adrenaline installed! and the rest of the story
Ok everybody, Its in and running. I did it Sunday and have been ironing out some details til now.
all data recorded On Snap on scanner
60-90 mph WOT TEST RUNS
DP Tuner programing
"stock" Fuel PW--3.7ms IPR duty cycle---40% 2450 PSI
40 tow Fuel PW--4.0ms IPR duty cycle 65% 2200 PSI
60 tow Fuel PW--3.7ms IPR duty cycle 80% 2150 PSI
80 Econ Fuel PW--4.0ms IPR duty cycle 90% 1950 PSI
I think you will agree these pretty much suck. much better than my stock pump. I called Bob, at home,on Sunday and we talked. He was more disappointed than I was. Sheryl was heartbroken. I was the first one that hadn't noticed a night and day difference. As Bob and I started brainstorming over the numbers, Sheryl pipes up in the background "its gotta be Programing".
So Bob says" tell ya what I'll call Bill at Power Hungry Performance tomorrow and call you after I talk to them. I think I might also send you my Pulse to test on your 550".
Moday comes, and Bob calls me and says he's shipping me a chip NextDay UPS. If it doesn't change things, he'll overnight me his Pulse.
Today the chip comes and I install. Same diagnostic tool, same WOT test runs
"stock" Fuel PW 3.1ms IPR duty cycle 40% 2750 PSI
50 tow Fuel PW 3.1ms IPR duty cycle 40% 2750 PSI
80 HP Fuel PW 3.7ms IPR duty cycle 75% 2550 PSI
100 HP Fuel PW 4.3ms IPR duy cycle 93% 2050 PSI
As you can see BIG DIfference. the programming made the pump work.
Maybe I didn't "need" a pump after all. maybe just different programing.
These were'nt special tunes, mind you, just "canned tunes" that most people run.
Will I keep the Pump? You bet!! It is definately worth the $469. Its not BIG OIL its just BETTER OIL.Will I keep the Tunes from Bill? Absolutley! It runs so much better!
I gotta run for a couple of hrs so digest this and I'll check back.

Pocket, the system seems tight. 10-11% duty cycle at idle. The way it was explained to me was you can only keep a stock injector open for so long. If the injector is commanded open any longer it just becomes a big oil leak as the plunger is already down and has no more fuel to push. the higher HP tunes have the larger PW. as soon as Fuel PW goes over 3.5ms it seems to drop pressure. I could have gone with a Pulse, or Stealth or Terminator and it would have give me way more oil than I than I needed. and rightly so, a 2000.00 oil pump should work better than a 500 oil pump. But I also would have never seen the difference in tuning either. I may have a job coming up in Georgia for the next 4-6 months and if thats the case, I'll just have Bill custom tune the truck. I will be leaving Idaho April 1 headed for Colorado Springs and then up tp Rapid City SD so I'll have 12-1300 miles of towing on the set up and I'll be able to post some mileage numbers then.

Something else I must say. Bob and Sheryl have been fantastic thru this deal. Bob called me repeatedly on Sunday with more questions and sugestions and just thoughts as we were diagnosing this. Sheryl was very concerned. Talk about customer support. Bob had Bill make the chip, next day ups, it to me and all on his dime!

Cookie, stock injectors. Chris, stock pump numbers averaged 100 psi lower with the DP tunes. Thats why I was convinced I had a weak pump. now I'm not so sure. I'm all ears as to where the rest of my pressure is going. as a side note. no chip at all gave me these numbers Fuel PW 3.2 IPR duty cycle 35% 2750 psi

So roughly a 5% increase over stock with the new pump. I wonder how this will compare to Scott's findings.
How was the SOTP feel with Bill's chip? Could you notice an increase in power with the new tunes, or is the only difference what the computer tells you? I wonder if Jody will need to reburn chips for the new HPOP? The PHP seems to really like the pump.
