Color code "E" Colonial white. For the 56's its more white than cream colored.

Look at my gallery of the 56 in the snow to see the difference between white snow and the color of my wheels.

Kevin is right. The 53 and 54 grille was painted Sungate Ivory. The wheels were painted the body color. The '55 and '56 grilles were Colonial White and the wheels were painted that same color.

Terry,

lets see some pics of Grandpa's truck! It sounds like you are keeping it stock.

Grandpas 56---glad to hear you are keeping it stock...I had a meadow green 56 and now building another. Best color is the meadow green....My other 56 is meadow-mist green. The colonial white is a easy color at your local paint store.
I always loved BOB CLARK'S meadow green 56 and it is the nicest 56 I ever saw. Bill

Any chance that you can get something close to sungate Ivory off of the shelf? I want to paint my grill but it does not have to be exact.

Just ask for the paint code and have them mix it--at your local auto paint store. I just got a quart of colonial white in acrylic enamel...and a quart of meadow green in base coat...and they have the codes ....or I can look in my paint books.
I have most all yrs from 1955-1992....when I did alot of spraying.....Bill
