Heres a good one?

What do you all think of this. There is a guy on Trailer life pulling a 20K lb, 38' Dual tandem Fiver with disk brakes.
He's pulling it with a 99 dodge one ton single rear wheel quad cab.
Pin weight of his triler is 2800#. He claims his rear axle weight rateing is 7500#.
The guy is worried about the the tires on his trailer being under rated! What about his truck?
He didn't say where he lives so I can't warn you.

Heres a good one?

Sounds like an accident looking for a place to happen. Too much weight for single rear tires to handle. Hope he never has to turn fast- it won't happen.

Dodge doesn't make a single rear wheel 1 ton. 2500 yes, then it jumps to a dually on the 3500's.

I know this for a fact as my father is heavy duty into the dodges.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Sep-02 AT 00:40 AM (EST)] whitebenz is correct. Seems I jumped the gun a bit. He is looking into another tow vehicle.

Dodge use to make a SRW one ton truck prior to the 90 or so year model , they also had a crewcab , and they are supposed to reintroduce the SRW one ton truck with their new hemi gas engine at some point...fd

Thats typical of a guy that owns a Dodge Cummins truck they figure they got a Cummins under the hood they got a truck tractor that can pull any amount of weight they want

This guy that owns this Dodge truck is a idiot get him reported to the DOT so he doesn't kill a bunch of people grossly overloading your truck is dangerous.

Anyhow any body that owns a Dodge is a few bricks short of a full load

I seem to remember this photo but if I remember correctly it was an article advertising the new 2003 Cummins High-Output turbo diesel. It's in this months new Trailer Life. It was a Dodge Ram with a 16,300 pound tow rating (this is all from memory so excuse me if I'm wrong). The Dodge had a flatbed with a Ford Diesel P/U on it that weighed around 10K. The author drove it around just a little and talked about how powerful the Cummins was but then went on to say that the new 6.0 liter Ford Turbo Diesel was also going to have similar HP and torque.

So I went to my recent Trailer Life and re-read this article. The photo is of a 2003 Dodge 3500 (1 ton) with the new Cummins H.O. turbo diesel. It was a dually, not a sigle rear wheel. Hooked to it was a goose neck, flatbed trailer with a Ford dually diesel on it. The author said the Ford weighed 6600 pounds and the trailer weighed at least that much but wasn't anywhere near the 16,300 pound tow rating of the new Dodge with the 305 HP and 555 ft lbs of torque high output Cummins 5.9 liter 360 cubic inch, 6 cylinder engine.
