Squeak question

OK, here is what I have been dealing with for many months and can't seem to solve.

My truck is a 2000 EB, 5.4, 2X4 with 185,000 miles.

I have been having what I would describe as a rubbery squeak sound coming from my passenger side front end. I changed my entire front end suspension(upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, pitman and ideler arm and shocks) around 70,000 miles ago.

The squeak sounds like a dry bushing but I greased all bushings and it didn't make any difference at all. I have always greased the ball joints every 3,000 miles. It used to only squeak when I went over a bump, but now it still does that but also squeaks when I turn the wheel. It has even started to squeak after it has been parked when I step out of the truck. I have taken it to the local mechanic and he told me that he thought it was the upper control arm bushing, but I have greased that excessively (to the point that I removed the control arm, cleaned and re-greased the mating surfaces and covered teh bushing with grease).

My wife often uses my Exp on weekends to shuttle the kids to soccer and t-ball games and I am a little fearful that my Exp might have a problem that makes it less than safe to drive. Has anyone had this sort of problem? Any ideas will br greatly appreciated?

Thanks guys.

I have the same problem, mine is a two wheel drive. I have replaced and greased everything you have. Still have the noise, mine is on the drivers side. I am going too try the lower arm bushings next.

That won't help. There are no moving parts on an upper control arm bushing. The way the bushing works, is the outer metal shell is locked to the control arm and the center metal sleeve is locked (bolted) to the frame. Movement is accomplished by the twisting of the rubber bushing in between the two.

What tends to happen is the bushing breaks free from the center sleeve and rotates on it which is the source of the squeak you're hearing. In order to eliminate the squeak, the bushings have to be replaced.

It doesn't appear as if the bushing is a servicable part on the control arm. If it is I would have no idea how to press it in. Does this mean I would have to replace the entire upper control arm just for a bushing?
