I think its going to be a decent truck, its high mileage, but it seems that the previous owner/owners liked it enough to take fairly good care of it.

Now its tire shopping time. well, not till we get back from vacation.

Lets see in the last 2 days I have changed my oil and mostly stopped a leaky oil plug- changed a fuel filter (that was also leaking ) added some antifreeze-- hand washed it- checked the fluids and the tire pressure. Then I charged the battery on the exploder (because like an idiot I left the cb on for 2 weeks) unloaded it off the trailer (which involved driving every vehicle we own- and losing the keys to one of them -- but found them in my pocket) I am pooped!

I removed the Oklahoma University emblems off of the front of the truck, I liked the orange/black color accent, but not a big fan of sports teams. Maybe going to have to find something to put in its place.

I think I am going to change the grey accents in the wheels to black, to better match the truck. some weekend project. maybe I will do the removable paint so if I don't like it, I can peel it off.

Thanks Clint. Getting closer to wheelies everyday. Looks like my uber low budget truck is finally starting to get expensive. Priced out a set of headers and they cost more than the truck. Then the trans rebuild...... Oh well, it'll still be cheaper than a new truck.

Probably can build that truck like you like, and still spend less than payments for a brand new truck.
Curiosity had gotten the best of me, I was curious what payments would be on a 50-65 thousand dollar truck. Payments per month were nearly 1000-1500 dollars per month.

So.. basically I work half a month for the honor of owning the truck, and the rest of the month for upgrades, tags, taxes and fuel.

We looked at buying a brand new Grand Cherokee a few years back, payments were right around $1200 a month. We did the smart thing (or so we hope) and put that money towards a new monthly house payment instead, lol

Right?!?! 1200 dollars per month is a fairly nice house, or... a fairly nice upgrade to a house!

Its crazy, I was visiting a friend, and getting a tour through his house, he said first thing his wife wanted to do was redo the kitchen. He just shook his head, and said.. it's gonna cost us 50 grand to redo the kitchen according to estimates. How can it be 50 grand to redo a kitchen?
How can it be that he bought the land 6 acres, the house, and detached garage, for $250,000.00 and spend 50 grand on a new kitchen, when all someone needs in a kitchen is a microwave, a sink and a beer fridge?

That has always blown my mind too. That's awesome that people have that kind of income and are capable of paying that, but dayum.

Until I find a gig that pays that well, I'll just keep "renovating" things as they wear out and doing most all my upgrades with my own two hands

I"m also calling shenanigans on the 50k kitchen upgrade. We were quoted 40k to finish the basement, and we figure it will be around 15k in materials\hired professionals for us to do it ourselves. That's for 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, several storage rooms, and a sweet home entertainment setup.

WHERE IS THAT 50K GOING TO? lol
