well the 360 in da twister is finally done about a month ago i was playing too rough with her bent a pushrod lost a lifter and it caused it to spin a bearing and i have just limped it around the yard doing minor tasks and as one guys saying here on FTE is "the motor sounds like 2 skeletons f-ing in a metal trashcan" and this weekend i hauled 2 final loads of wood from the neighbors house....pulled a car to a different spot in the yard so the junkers can get to it easier.... decided the time was right and with a couple buddies watching i did a 1/2 block long burnout till she came apart.... so long my lil $50 360 you worked your a$$ off for almost two years got an avg of 16 mpg til you lost #5 cylinder i rode you hard and put you up wet and you gave it your all i topped you out at 130 mph once with witnesses and a few other times without, out pulled and pulled out many competitors, and still with a rod knocking and only 7 cylinders even running you held 5000 rpm one final time and left a memorable smoke show......thank you lil 360 time of death 9/1/14 12:01 pm you are my first blown motor

final load

RIP 360.

I took POJ the 78 Bronco off roading today. At least I tried too. It was bulky and ran poorly, so it looks like I need to do a little work on it.

Changed the solenoid and ground cable to the battery on POJ tonight. Also pulled the dizzy cap and cleaned some corrosion off the rotor. It seemed to run better, but still needs some carb work.

Got a call from the shop putting the trans in the SD and it should be done thursday or friday. They needed to order a new transmission cooler. I'm having them put in one for the 6.0 diesel transmission. Larger and more cooling capacity.

I agree Jeff, but I don't want to tear into the carb until I get my other truck back. I'm using the Bronco as a DD and am able to get by with it as is. I should have the other truck back Thursday or Friday and then I'll overhaul the carb. I may also have to drop the fuel tank and clean it out as I think it may have a bunch of rust in it restricting fuel flow. I'll check fuel flow before I do that though.

Last night I pulled the front drive shaft, and opened the CV joint, the boot is destroyed, and the grease in it was fairly dry. It looks for the most part that it didn't get water in it yet. I am going to rebuild it to have it as a spare, because I already ordered the new CV joint, if I had only known, I found a driveshaft that does away with U Joints on the web, that is only 400.00 plus taxes and shipping, that may be something I have to save up for.

My pockets are considerably lighter tonight. We went and got the SD after having a new transmission installed. Had Hanson Ford in Clay Center put it in and it has a 3 yr. unlimited mileage warranty, parts and labor. Hopefully it will last much longer than 3 years. I had them upgrade the cooler to the larger cooler used with the 5r100 in the 6.0 diesels.

The cv joint would buy 1/4 of the transmission cooler, Curtis. I'm glad it is fixed though.

Went by the salvage yard again today and picked up a shifter linkage for the old f100. Also looked at a 69 f250 with factory in frame fuel tank. Probably go back next week to get some of the parts that are no longer available in the catalogs from it. Will have to decide if I want to add it as a secondary tank to the in cab tank I already have, or just use it as the only tank and get rid of the in cab tank. I personally like the idea of getting rid of the in cab tank to gain some storage space behind the seat and I also feel a bit safer. Having 40 gallons of fuel on hand for a thirsty big block would be nice too.
