Photo's of my 2009 F-150 Platinum W/Leer Cap

New to forum, 30 year Ford owner, my first New Ford Pickup. I think Ford has out done itself with this vehicle. Even my BMW Buddies approve!

I Absolutely love this truck. The best vehicle I have ever owned!

Your truck looks awesome I know you are proud. What do you have on it for tires? Did those come from the factory or did you put those on after>

I am speechless lol, I am in love with that truck.

Aggie - I think those tires are the stock Pirelli Scorpions.

Tires

Hey Aggie,

Fordtruckman is correct. These are the stock 20" Pirelli Scorpions that came stock with the truck. I believe, from talking to my BMW buddies, that the Pirelli tires have a lot to do with how well the truck rides and handles. It's just a dream to drive.

Thanks for the compliments, it means a lot!!

Yessiree, thats a honey, the Leer cap really finishes it off, one question as I'm getting a 2010 Platinum, I thought the power running boards retracted as soon as the doors close?

Running Boards

Hey Don

Thanks, The running boards can be programmed to retract when the door opens, remain in a fixed position at all times, or Car Wash mode as I call it, as in the picture. Retract on command for cleaning.

You have got to love the Ford Engineer logic!

Thanks for the compliment.

And people wonder why I'm leaving GM, never mind all the mind blowing feature's, but try & get a 6.5 box in a GM or Ram screw!!!
Once again it's the nicest truck I've seen, once I get mine I'll plaster my pics on this site to, all the best.

That's the prettiest Plat that I've seen. I'm partial to black Fords anyway. I'm not a cap type of guy but it looks good. I'm impressed with the way it fits. The F-150 has a real busy design from the rear window back and the cap fits good.

Bobcats,

Congrats on your new truck - it is an absolute beauty. Can you please tell me which model Leer cap is on your truck, and if you are satisfied with the fitment of the cap to the truck. Others have posted negative comments, suggesting that the cap overhangs the truck by several inches and that it leaks alot of water because of this. Do you find any of this to be the case with your particular model cap.

I plan on ordering my truck very soon and this is the particular look and need that I have for my truck/cap.

Leer Cap Model 100XL

Thanks gunslingr76

The cap is Leer's Model 100XL

Here's the link
LEER Model 100XL Truck Cap

I did a lot of research before I bought a cap, and yes I have read the posts about improper fit and leaking, so before I ordered a cap I called Leer in Woodland, California myself, and talked to their product design specialist, and voiced my concerns before I ordered the cap. He walked me through the whole manufacturing design process including how they measured for the molds that are used for the new F-150 truck bed, and they actually use your vehicles vin number to match the paint. But what really sold me on the cap other than it's sleek SUV look, was their lifetime color and structure warranty. So I went down to my local Cap World and ordered the cap. What I didn't know was that the cap would be one of the first 100XL caps made in the same Woodland, California facility that I called. They made my cap in 7 days and shipped it across the country in 6 days. I had the cap on my truck 2 weeks to the day after I ordered it. Cap world installed and wired the cap free of charge, and had me come back 3 weeks later to inspect the fit and re-tighten all of the clamps and connections. I could not be happier with the cap or the service that I got from Cap World and Leer. The cap is completely water tight. I took the truck through a high pressure touchless car wash the day I had the cap installed to check for leaks. The fit as you can see by the pics is the best I have seen on any cap, and I have had 2 other Pickup trucks with other manufacturer caps myself, that did leak, and did not fit right.

If I had to be picky about anything, it's the inside color of the cap. It's tan, which you really cant see through the tinted windows on the cap, but it would have been nice to at least have an option to have it painted. Other than that I am totally satisfied.
