Shades of Black???
Hey guys, I own a 78 Bronco that is painted black, original color. It was a theft recovery when I bought it and is missing the ID tag, and I cannot find a paint code anywhere on it. Does anyone know what the code is, and was there more than one shade of black for these years? Also, is there a difference in a truck color mix versus a car mix? Thanks. Don

Hi, just go to your local paint supplier and tell him you need black for a 78 ford truck there is only one shade. the paint code should be on a tag inside the drivers door it should be marked either exterior or paint.it will be near the bottom of the tag somewhere. John

I can only see one color chip that is black (see my other posting for paint code number). A van or SUV is listed as a truck and do have a certain area set aside in the color chip books. So yes they do typically use specific colors for trucks. Based on marketing (focus groups) buyers of trucks tend to prefer the machismo colors such as black, grey, and deep metallic colors like blue. Truck buyers tend to be egocentric and do not have a strong sense of community ownership. They also don't volunteer for community organizations. This is based on Chrysler research and development - "who are truck owners?"
But I tend to digress. Hope this helps ya
