95 F150 Speedometer Problem

I have 95 F150, 4.9, 5 spd stick. Everything was working fine except I needed to replace a dash light bulb. I removed the 4 screws that hold the cluster in and was able to **** it enough to get to the bulb. I never unplugged any of the wires from the cluster. Now the speedometer is pegged (> 80 mph) to the right. It seems that just by changing the angle of the cluster changes the location of the needle. Has anyone run across this before? Also, there doesn't appear to be any sort of cable going in so should I assume that the speedometer is electronically controlled? Last bit of info... this has the digital odometer and that seems to be fine. How do I get the speedometer back to normal? thanks

i just recently put a tachometer dash in my truck and mine had the same problem. all i did was take the clear face plate of of the cluster and without taking the needle off turn turn the neddle back around. it should fall back down when you get it past center of the arc. hope this helps!!!

I think you can hold the reset button down and turn key to on. The speedometer will sweep the span of the meter and then rest at zero. The odometer will display the number of calibrations left for tire size. Turn key off and you should be at zero and ready to go. Test drive. Been awhile since I did this.

I have come accross this type of issue before but it was not hard to fix. You have to reset the computer system to get the digital and analog readouts to "zero" out. On some vehicles you have to take out the the aod fuse for one minute to do this. This should be located on the fuse panel under the hood. If not look in your owners manual to locate it. Should do the trick.

There is a connector that goes straight in the back of the speedo. I may be wrong, but is it possible that the connections has come out some and is not making proper contact. If the other fixes do not solve your problem, I would try to make sure the plug coming in the back is properly inserted. If you've pulled the guages forward, and there was no slack, I would think that may be the problem. Perhaps you will be able to feel it???
However, pulling a fuse and such is easy to try....and it can do no harm.
