finally got a chance to get it on the scales with the diet I have put it on. weight with driver and fuel 3940lbs (I weigh 200 for reference as to where the car is at)
Front tires 2240, so actually not to bad of a ratio at under 57%, i have definitely seen worse and I haven't even moved the battery yet.
Well just an update on this car, got the drivers side all in primer, still have the trunk and passengers door back to do but here is the latest pic
Also been at the track with it, still running 8.8s pretty consistent, got the MPH to 79.5 and had a couple in hte 8.7 range but getting the 60ft times down a little to 1.947.
Also 2 weeks ago they had a 60s friday night, if you bring in a 60s muscle car you entered into a drawing which I won for a free nights stay at the staybridge suites in DesMoines (king suite at that)
And last friday night I ended up winning best reaction time of the night with a .007
That is way cool, love to see a full size Galaxie whup GM and Mopar ass! I've got a 66 with an S code 390, just waitng for me to get off my but and get to work. This is an insparation. LOVE those FE's, hope you stick with it when you upgrade the engine, instead of the 385 series (nothing wrong with them either, FE just suits the car better!).
Mine is pretty clean, just need to rebuild the engine and want to change out the old C6 for a toploader when I do it. Keep the pics coming!
Well I did a little more update on the car just recently. I had decided to rebuild the front end totally and when I did I found that the front springs had a 1-1/2" home made spacer. So with a little research and actually very little modification I changed it from this
Well time to update this again. Took the car out last friday. Actually to back up, had it out a couple weeks ago and noticed with the new coilovers it was dead hooking and bogging down off the line so I put in a 3200 stall last week.
Ok back to this past friday, was running 8.890s with 1.9## 60fts, but remember the old 390 heads didn't have the most efficient combustion chamber so added some timing and got my best runs ever. Next to last run was a 8.749 with a 1.889, turned around got a good warm up burn out (see links below) and pulled a 8.559 @77.70mph with a 1.789 60ft, yeah this thing is hooking now.
And then the actual launch, you can see by comparison the coilovers working and getting good weight transfer, and really planting the slicks, even with 18.5psi it's starting to wrap up the sidewalls a bit
Man that thing is looking good, really coming along. I would love to see some more pics if you get time. You really make me want to get to work on mine!
