Tri-State Meet/Test and Tune MAY 9, 2009

Hey Phil, welcome to the "I SHOWED UP BUT NO ONE ELSE DID" club. That alone qualifies you to be a chapter leader. I have arranged different meets at some good locations with plenty of parking, free food, entertainment and libations, only to sit there with much egg on my face. I had arranged a meet at the "Flight 93 Memorial", met members of the hero's families, had photos taken with some of them, signed the parking barrier, saw thousands of bikers from different clubs across the region, met people from some car clubs, but, no one from a Ford truck site. I wonder what that says about me.

Hey I'm not the only insomniac in the chapter.
A couple of years back Bill, around the time the chapter first got started. I have some great pics and can't get them out of my phone. It hard locked and not even the AT&T store can retrieve them. I also have pictures with Dennis Gage of "My Classic Car" taken at the auto show in Wildwood, New Jersey.
The 93 Memorial just about had me in tears. When you stand there and realize these people gave their lives willingly to protect others, makes the word "Hero" come alive.

LOL @ insomniac...I napped this afternoon, and that's just bad for sleeping at night.
Joe - I'll tell you, as a local resident that whole thing happening was just so surreal and you're exactly right about what it ends up representing. I do need to make a trip down there myself sometime - not like I don't have the time on my hands right now - and check it all out. I'm not sure if the formal memorial plans moved forward or not yet but it would be interesting to see, none the less.

It's worth the trip. The president was coming the next day to dedicate it, I don't know if they put up the memorial yet or not. There where plenty of plaques and stones put up by various organizations and clubs, while I was there I thought how nice it would be if our chapter could come up with something to honor them and show our appreciation, but, I couldn't even get anyone to show up, let alone hustle up some cash to put something there. Maybe in the future as the chapter gets stronger and there are more members who get to know each other off line and become more active.

As the chapter grows some, maybe will make it easier to do something like that - I do think it would be a wonderful idea. I know only from the media coverage that there are TONS of handmade/homemade memorials down there, and I do hope they incorporate that into the future official plans somehow.

Lots and lots of home/handmade stuff, plenty of professional also. Some had stones cut with their organizations name and homage written on them. Your right, they should be incorporated. If enough members show up at Beast's party maybe we can do a quick run over, it's only about 40 miles away. I think it's time to call it a night, I need a few hours sleep before my grandson wakes up, three year olds have an infinite amount of energy.
