There is a switch on the brake pedal, that controls the safety lock so you can move the shift lever out of park when started, it also is linked to the cruise to shut off. I would check there first. It sounds like something is loose, or the pedal maybe.
Maybe a bad connection on the brake pressure sensor or brake light switch. The brakes and the off switch are the only non computer controlled inputs I can think of. The VSS acting up could do it, but I think it will take a very wide speed change to kill the cruise.
There a couple of other circuits on the cruise fuse. On my last truck, I had a nickle that fell into the cigarette lighter and would blow the cruise fuse. look around for other issues.
