So I noticed that on the data tag there is a ford script at the bottom. Some tags have a 3/4 inch script, while others are a little over an 1 inch
what’s yours?

Here is my tag for my 55 built in Kansas City. I was trying to figure out if I have the large or small tag since it is hard to tell with just a picture.
The large Ford has some extra on the end of the d. So I have the small one.

You are more observant than I am! I guess I have the small one too. Built in Highland Park.

Fred's is different from Kevin and Joe's with the DSO box in the middle of the data lines, with the weight and warranty disclaimers, which are on 4 lines instead of two.

It appears the 51-2 glove box lid had more room for a larger tag, and they shrunk to fit the smaller lid for 53.

Kevin, what are the year, plant and production codes on the tags you have? It appears it may be a location thing (plant/supplier) vs. a year thing.

Also notice Fred has a number in the bottom left of the plate. Could that one be a replacement tag?
I would guess each plant did their own thing. Shoot I wouldn't be surprised if they changed mid year in some plants as well.
Yes, K is for Kansas City plant. Here is what LMC says the numbers mean.

Pretty sure mine is original and does match the frame and original equipment. (Motor and trans replaced with a 226 and spur gear trans.) Looked at images 51 Vin Plates (just a search name) on Mr. Google and the couple similar ones had the same number 1C-18172-A. One looked original and the other most likely was a repro.

Also looking at the op image. the swoop on the top of the F goes nearly to the d on the large. On the small the swoop stops at the r

Funny thing is I don’t recall ever a discussion about this. I just happened to notice it this morning.
