Battery replacement?

My 2006 6.0 has 39,000 miles and has been sitting for a week in 38- 45 degree weather. After installing 2008 mirrors this afternoon I went to put windows back up and they quit. Both batteries show 50% charge on tester and red indicator on top of battery. I am about to go on a 3000 mile trip pulling a 24' enclosed trailer and I suspect it is time to replace the batteries since it will not crank and just makes the clicking noise. Even tried my jump box to no avail. This happened the night I bought the truck as it had been sitting for quite a while. I suspect neither battery will hold a full charge for very long.

Anybody have a recommendation on brand, Motorcraft, Interstate, etc. Went to Sears web site and not much to offer in high Cold Cranking Amps. Orig equipment in the truck are 750 ML BXT 65 750 Motorcrafts. I assume that is 750 CCA. I am inclined to go Interstate but wonder if Motorcraft as good?

Will replace them Monday and Interstate price is $125 per battery so far in my searching but can't get to a Motorcraft price on Saturday night.

Any comments welcome.

Just something to have checked out is the alternator as my batteries went twice and the second time they checked the alternator and found it lacking.
they figure that is why the batteries didn't last as they never got fully charged by the alternator.
I went with the motorcraft the second time as ford was paying. If I were to get my own I would go to Interstate and put the highest CCA battery I could fit in there.
something to also thing about is if you are where it gets cold you only have about half of your CCA available if it gets really cold. I know as I couldn't start my truck once because I had the factory rated cca battery and put in a 850 cca replacement never had another starting issue the whole time I had that truck

My 03 6.0 PSD had to have the batteries and the alternator replace with less than 24,000 on it. Warranty covered the cost. I have used Duralast batteries and have also had good luck with the good old Walmart brand batteries. Walmart has a great replacement warranty and they are all over the place should you need to make use of the warranty.

Motorcraft Max here. Originals went almost five years and held up well so I went back with Motorcraft.

I just replaced the two in my 03 with 850 Cold 1050 32 celcius anyhow they are only a brand you can get in Canada. I had some Canadian tire batteries less than 2 years old they crapped out not happy.

Replace them with the same group number ie 65 so they fit in the battery boxes properly. Ford has been using group 65 batteries for decades.

Low battery voltage/amperage wipes out your starter in no time. Usually batteries last 4 years and its time to replace them.

You've probably already done this but here's the Interstate link:

Interstate Batteries - Batteries for Everything ? Laptops, Camera, Phones, Cars, 2-Way Radio Battery, SLA, etc.

At the top of the page, there's a store finder. Just enter your zip - should be able to find someone open on a Sunday that way. Just a thought.

I had to replace my batteries a couple months ago it had the advance auto batteries that only lasted 2 years. They wanted $100 a battery and most others $100 up. I did some checking and found a wholeseller (that sells to tire dealers etc..) that also sell to the public I got them for $130 for both including tax. 1000 cold crank amps I also noticed that the new batteries where alot heavier than the old ones. So far they working great. I noticed while there that they added the stickers depending on where they were going (ac delco etc...)

Interstate makes a Battery called the "Workaholic" It is probablay the only Interstate I would buy. They have cheapened there products. New Castle Battery makes a good product also.

The best way to tell if your getting a good battery is by the weight. The heavier the battery the thicker the lead plates. It will last longer.

Right now, for me, the best battery on the market is the NAPA brand.
The Item number is 7565. It has 1040 CA. 880 CCA. I run it in my Mustang. They will last all day at the track no problem, with out a charge. I put them in my sons F350 with a 7.3.

When I replace any battery, it is always with that one. They run about $75.00 with a 36 month replacement. Thats what I get at the local NAPA anyhow.
