had trouble with shift cable lubricated it went back and forth quick car wont start in parl only between reverse and nuetral can it be adjusted or just replace it its a 98

 

Yes, it can be adjusted.

Loosen the mounting bolts on the DTR. Place shift lever in R (ignition in RUN with engine off). Have someone watch the backup lights while you rotate the switch until the lights are on. Tighten down and check for proper starter operation in P and N.
