HELP! How to remove OEM headlights?
I need your help once again... I got some new headlights from Anzo, as my OEM lights are starting to crack and get brittle. The instructions are pretty clear on how to install the new product, but not very detailed in regards of how to remove the stock lights.
From the instructions:
- It calls for the removal of the grill (no problem, but don't see why necessary)
- Removal of the turnlight/corner lenses (no problem here)
- Use pliers to remove the two locking clips, located on the top of the headlights (I think I found them)
- Use the pliers to remove the push pin clip on the inside of the engine bay front fram (That's where I'm getting lost... where the heck is that stupid push pin clip???? - is that why I need to remove the grill???)
Thanks for any help you can provide...
Andy

Removing the grille gives you more room to work. Since your replacing the lamp, just ****** out the old lamp. The clip is plastic and will let go of the metal stud. Once you have the lamp out of the way, it will be easier to remove the clip.
The two metal clips on top have to come all the way out. Mine were a pain and I broke 1. If you follow the link to my tech writeups I did one on the 05 conversion that briefly covered 99-04 removal.

Those metal clips are a pain in the ###... I can't get mine out... Also, that stupid black plastic clip which holds each light on the bottom is equally a pain. Can't get that one off either...
Not much room to work with either, even with the grill removed...
Any hints on how to get these things off??? That's the only two things stalling my installation of my new headlights...

Just broke stuff, huh?? LOL ;-)
Well I do have a complete set of new headlights with hardware ready to go in... but I'm still hesitant to "break" stuff, just in case something shouldn't fit right with the new lights.
How did you "******" the light out of the lower pin again? Did you break the black plastic off?

Nothing but one of the clips from the top broke, the other clips got a little bent up though. The bottom clip has a ball on the end of the stud, and the ball sits in a plastic retainer. It will pop out without a terrible amount of force and then should you need to, pop back into the socket. The clip portion of the socket is relieved, so it looks like this was an intended movement, either during the manufacture of the stud or the retainer was mounted in the header and the stud to the head lamp, then banged together on the line.
