1985 302 Timing Chain or Gear Drive ?
The timing chain in my 302 is lose. All I'm doing is freshing it up some. I have a brand new gear drive that I can use or would you all buy a new timing chain and gears. I know gear drives are noisey as heck but I have never put one of these in. The block number on my motor is E5AE238 and on the side it has 5D22 I believe. I'm thinking it is a 85 model motor. Don't know the numbers on the heads yet. But would you guys do a timing chain or gear drive. And is a gear drive harder to install or any tricks to it. Thanks Scott

I love the idea of gear drive, they are noisy ( you can get the quiet version) but thats whats makes them so cool. I've never installed one but heard that they are not a problem. I was going to put one on my 5.0 build but you cant use them on a computer controlled engine that has an anti-knock sensor.
