paint problems

Hi all,
I just got my 78 painted this weekend and there are some spots where the paint is not smooth. There's no runs, just orange peel. How can I fix this short of shooting the entire truck again. The color is charcoal grey and I used acrylic enamel.

P.S. there are also a few dust particles that somehow landed on the truck when the paint was wet. Is it possible to get rid of them?

Jayson

The best way to handle this is either wet sand the area with 1500~2000 if needed. You really need to look at how bad it is to determine if wet sanding is needed. One way to tell is to wet sand using 2000 on a very small area and see how long it takes to make it all the same texture. As you sand, look for high and low spots, the high spots will turn dull after you dry it. Once all the high spots are gone buffing is next.

If you don't need to wet sand the area, you'll probably need a more agressive buffer. the buffer should be non-dual action in the 800~1500 rpm range and use either a foam or wool pad.

This site has some tips for this and some suggestions for what products to use (you'll have to search around to find the tips, but they are good):

You said you "had it painted". Take it back and have it done right.

i guess im wrong i read that he got it painted.. i assumed he did it himself, since he was so willing to shoot it again. if he had it painted then he should definatley have them do it again. MY FAULT... see what happens when you assume!!! god i feel stupid!
