I get about 15 mpg in the city and 17 on the highway, but he is right a lot of it is determined by your right foot.

do what you can to boost the power...but there is a trade-off for the increased power once you reach a certain point.


the efficiency of the engine is about as best as can be already, you can probably eke out another 3-5% via custom tuning...so about .5 mpg gain roughly.


your best bet is to unload the truck as much as possible, and just drive it nice an easy. keep the RPM's low, Cruise Control when able and avoid stoplights. simply changing your driving habits will probably give you a 2 mpg increase.
