Crackling Noise on Acceleration

My 1993 3.0 Aero started making a crackling noise last week that sounds like its coming from the rear of the engine compartment through the cover. It seems to only make the noise when the engine is cold and accelerating from a stop. Just this morning the door ajar light started blinking in unison with the crackles. The light stayed off when the noise stopped.

The aero is staying put until I figure this one out. I am guessing it may be a short. Any ideas on what this specifically might be?

rear door relay located in that area under the dash
rattles when the rear lift door or side door is ajar.
usual cause, lift door switch failure

mine sounds like a buzz saw, not had time to look at it. lift door switch is damaged

Yeah. its likely the relay. mine does that when I have tried to open the side door and failed to close it properly due to ice. Also clean the side door contacts, they may be corroded.
Aeroman.

/\/\ I agree with the relay theory. A short would have likely blown a fuse.

The little silver electrical tabs where the sliding door opens need to be cleaned up and bent out alittle so they make good contact.mine did the same thing.

What was that relay for? Interior lights? Door ajar warning?
