Chasing a check engine light!

1993 ford f150 E40D transmission: My check engine light comes on only when i got down the street. If i turn the truck off its gone start to move aagin its back. I tried scanning for it but it didn pull anything but 111, and when it's running it blinks 4 times back to back like the number 4. Please would could make it do this. When ever i turn the truck off its gone so how can i check for this code? Does anyone thing this code is transmission related?

Andrew..welcome to my world......I too am facing a CEL situation at the moment. Mine however was likely caused by me cleaning my engine.
The 111 is a sytem pass. I have never heard of the 4 flashes when running though. I can tell you that the OD light will flash if there is trouble with the tranny, but not sure how bad it has to be messed up to trigger that warning.
Also the computer will give you transmission codes, but they are 3 digit codes
Check out this link..at the bottom of that page you will find links to the various codes and what they mean.>> Ford Fuel Injection How To Run a Self-Test
Also, always give as much info as you can when posting a problem as it will help folks here narrow down your problem.
I wish I could be of more help....at the least, your post has been bumped up.
All the best!

The truck runs fine. Thats why i am puzzled, why it could be doing that. If i ever turn the vehicle off i cant retrieve the code it keeps giving me 111 system pass, but once i go down the road it comes back.

I have more or less the same situation. I have a few codes but they are the same egr codes I had last week before i cleaned my engine and it had never tripped the CEL light.
My engine runs the same as well.
All I can say is *@#!*!&%@
But I'm working on it.

I will mention though that there are 2 sets of codes....
Current condition codes and continuous memory codes
Are you using a reader?

ok...I asked because I am not familiar with how the readers display the codes.
When you do the self test. You should have 2 sets of codes. Not sure if you know. you say you get a 111....if that is on the first set, there should be a pause, then it will repeat the 111. After that you will have a 6 second pause then a single blink to seperate the 2 sets of codes, then another 6 second pause...then you will get a second set of stored codes or continous memory codes. You may know this, but I thought I would mention it in case you saw the first set repeat and assumed that was the end of the codes.

It might help to do the KOER (key on engine running) codes- never done it but there are instructions on the fuel injection website mentioned above.

I think that is going to be my next step. I have already printed the KOER info off.
Everything I check seems good.

.
another question...I did notice when I sprayed the area around the passenger side fender...I got a funny sound like an air sucking sound. Could water have got sucked into a vacuum hose somewhere and messed something up. I have poked around there and can find nothing amiss.
Perhaps a really good single malt scotch might help....

were you able to pull a second set of codes in the engine off test.
It sounds like a very similar situation to mine...without the engine de-greaser of course.
I wish I could offer more advice...this is somewhat new to me as well, but thought I could help with the pulling of the codes...
Were you able to pull codes with the engine running?
