2000 Expedition - Door Ajar Sensor

My door ajar sensor starting acting up last night. When I went out to the car this morning, it didn't matter which of the four doors I used, I had to SLAM the doors shut for the running lights and interior lights to go out. When I get in the car, I have to SLAM the drivers door shut so the door ajar indicator on the dash board goes out and the interior lights to turn off.

Does anyone have a clue on how to remedy this?

Spray WD40 in all the latches, cycle the doors a few times and it should go away.

And I found out a few months ago if all the above doesn't work, make sure the hatch - just the glass is actually latched. Somehow mine had not caught and every time I went over a bump or turned, the motion was just enough to casue the back glass hatch to move away from whatever sensor is there.

This is almost too embarrassing to admit: I first sprayed Pb blaster to clean up the latches and then I sprayed a gel lube to all the latches. I cycled all the doors and it still had the problem. I had to go to Home depot to get a part for my sink and the whole way there the door ajar light stayed on. When I pulled into the parking lot, I turned off the car and then i decided to try it again. I opened and closed the drivers door, again and again. After the fifth time, I noticed a faint sound in the background. I slammed the door shut again, this time a little softer and I heard a slight "boom." I opened the door and closed it again softer still, this time trying to focus on the sound and where in the car it might be coming from. Immediately, i recognized the sound. It was the rear glass hatch. It wasnt closed all the way. I got out of the car, closed the glass, got back into the car, closed the door. No "door ajar" light! Open and close, open and close, open and close. No Light! Gosh, I'm a fricking IDIOT!!!

We don't know you well enough to argue this point with you, so we'll have to take your word on it.
