2005 and newer F250 GVWR
Hi
I looked at a used 05 F250 crew cab with a 6.0 diesel and noticed that the GVWR was 10,000 lbs. Is this the norm for a 05 and newer F250? This would put me in a category where I would have to bring the truck in once a year for government safety inspections. I dont have a problem with safety, but for a truck that will see relatively light use and miles, I hate to be at the mercy of a shops judgement.
I thought 3/4 tons had a GVWR of 8800 lbs.
Thanks

GVWR is based on model (F-250 / F-350), wheel base, drive (4X2 / 4X4) and engine.
All '05 F-250 Crew Cabs w/ 6.0L are 10K GVWR with the exception of a short bed (156.2" WB) 4X2 which is rated at 9,800. For 4X4 models with the 6.0L you would have to drop down to a F-250 Super Cab short bed (141.8" WB) to get under the 10K mark or go with a gas motor...
The '04 model year was the last year the F-250 was rated at 8,800 across the board. The only '05-up that carrys the 8,800 rating is a F-250 Regular Cab with a 5.4L...
