Swap a '90 Dash in a '85?
I have a '85 F150 and my dash is damaged beyond repair. I have access to a '90 F150 dash. The '90 dash has the wiring but it was cut just inside of the fuse box.
Is it possible to swap the '90 dash in place of the '85 dash and use the existing '85 wiring with the exception of maybe having to change some ends. I realize I will have to change the sending unit in the tank to make the fuel guage work.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I do not think you will be able to hook the 85 wiring to the 90 dash components. It won't plug in for one thing. I haven't done it, but have also heard it's a lot of work to adapt the 90 dash into a earlier truck, since they mount differently, even though the cabs are generally the same.
Being free is not the best way sometimes. A 80's dash would fit and work better, and there are so many of these trucks at junkyards and in people's back yards parts should be easy to find.
