Drip rail *TRIM* removal and installation - How?

I've tried to answer the question for myself but unfortunately here I am asking for the answer.

I have joined the club of people with a rusted drip rail area.

On my 78 supercab yet, even MORE area to rust.

I'm still going back and forth between trying to fix it myself and paying a fortune for a shop to do it (and do it right!).

How do you remove the chrome trim on the drip rail? Mine seems like its superglued in place.

It just may be! Or more likely locked in place by rust or something.

Anyways, how do I get the thing off? I can get replacements for around $35 from a few sources (Dennis Carpenter is one, for the curious.

Thanks for any info.

I managed to get the drip rail trim off w/o damaging it using the bottle opener on my keychain.

I'm sure the actual tool for it is expensive and hard to find.

FORTUNATELY There is no rust on the actual rail itself. Just the roof edge.

LOTS of rust on the inside, but the bead blasting should take care of that and what ever is left will be nuked with rust converter and primer.

Thanks for the info!
