Pyrometer Install

No, but DashBoss can. I saw your other post and hope Josh comes along. Do a Google search on DashBoss and you'll find it...

I have had this truck awhile.. 6.0L D Excursion..
The autometer Pyro is the probe under a hose clamp on the turbo outlet.. The pyro quit working recently.
Should I buy the AutoMeter 5249 replacement and tap the manifold, or should I buy the 5247 replacement probe for double the cost.. It only lasted 2 yrs..
thanks in advance.. I do only light towing, and the motor is bullet proofed but otherwise stock with a mild street tune.

I put a pyrometer in each manifold. For me its a huge benefit to see what each side is doing. I can tell if an injector starts over fueling or if I see the deltas get to far out of whack I know I need to have the injectors checked.
I have also been experimenting with Archoil in the oil and adding 2-stroke oil to the fuel mix, when I see the exhaust temps match almost exactly is when I know it is running at its best. I can honestly say I seen these 2 experiments make a difference. I use to run a delta of 40 to 50f and now I'm within 10f.
I had an injector over fuel a cylinder and take my last motor out, real peace of mind being able to monitor both sides.

Not sure about any of the other OBD2 monitors that are on the market, some may have this capability too I dunno. But I do know that Scangauge does not. I hope this helps.

For now, I can't find the replacement probe for less than 150$.. It has a small boss and a cone shape to be pressed into the hole drilled under the clamp. with short leads.. its funny, I call automater and they don't have a replacement for it.. I will pull it off and get a pic..
